Every notebook or desktop or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software which interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, as well as any apps that are present on the system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a web server, any application runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This goes for both standard website scripts and server-side software such as a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you can set up a different software environment on a single machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We offer as many as 3 different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs available and we offer all three instead of only one as we realize that you might want to set up some software that has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it will run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there are different software programs you could install on the web hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you wish to use one and that is why we offer several Control Panels as well. In case you decide that you need some other OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the present one and set up the one that you'd like. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they’re also known as the most stable and risk-free OSs. We supply three different ones as each of them is backed by a separate community. The packages which you can add on your server are different and this may matter if you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements for the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the Operating System that you'll select. You can pick any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, yet if necessary, we can always install the server once again with an alternative one upon your request. As an additional service that you could add to the plan whenever you want, we can update the OS on a regular basis so as to keep it as secure as possible.
