The first registrations were allowed in September 2006, and the intention behind this TLD is that all websites that use it have to comply with specific regulations. In other words, all .MOBI websites need to be created to be opened properly by mobile devices in agreement with the so-called “MWI Best Practices for mobile content” established by the W3C Mobile Web Initiative (MWI) in collaboration with the .MOBI Registry organization.
